Welcome to my channel!
There's no better time than now to start helping wildlife, no matter how small your garden.
I've been making wildlife gardens and installing vital habitats for circa 20 years now, and in 2020 I thought I'd share my knowledge and experience with others. Here you'll find inspiration on how to create your own habitats for wildlife, helping you attract everything from beetles to birds and butterflies to bees!

Thank you Joel, for telling me about this end result video. It is just beautiful! All the roses and other flowers seem to love it as they are thriving so well, and such a remarkable change. It is so nice to see a good video about good deeds and kindness. The world sure could use more like these! Thank you again. May God bless you always❤
Thank you so much Janice, I'm so glad you got to see them. It feels good to help, but I always remember that the hardest part is asking and the easiest part is offering the help. I hope more people feel able to ask for help after seeing this and more importantly that more people feel in a position to help someone in need. Very best wishes to you and yours - Joel
Carry You is right ❤️
Good job done.
Thanks Judith, so much - such a good feeling to see their "feet" in the ground again. They will be cared for on a daily basis to ensure they continue to thrive. Best wishes, Joel
Aww true tree 'surgeon's' at work there Joel !...thats fab...hope they enjoy their new home🌳🌳
Thank you - I am a trained arborist/surgeon and have been for many years but I don't accept as much work because I refuse to fell healthy trees and only concentrate on the surgery part. These trees will be cared for and checked on a daily basis to ensure they absolutely thrive in their new space, such a good feeling watching them "home" again. Best wishes, Joel
Can these be started year round or should I wait for next spring?
Hi there, all year round is fine, although some of the oxygenating pond plants wouldn't be available over the winter as they go dormant and sink to the bottom of ponds etc, meaning reputable sellers won't have them for sale year round. I hope this helps, best wishes - Joel
Beautiful!
Thank you Phyllis, it's so good to see it again this year and it supporting so much wildlife, which of course increases each year too. Best wishes, Joel
We have a small colony of wall lizards in Bristol. They're non native but still fun to watch.
Wow, that's quite a thing and I'm glad they have found a refuge near you, agreed I could watch them for hours - so quick though! Best wishes, Joel
Now many times a year this the 🍀 flower 🌷🌹 and for how long this flower 🌺 says in bloom.
Hi there, one flowering season from June to September usually, sometimes earlier in the year if the weather conditions are right. I hope this helps - best wishes, Joel
where are my women of culture, this is a man
Thanks John, I really appreciate it. The roses are in full bloom and we're pruning in autumn to ensure even more blooms next year - you can see how they look now in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Ls26ZJz5I1M/v-deo.html Best wishes, Joel
Amazing ❤️🐸💚🐸
Think i just found someone new to sub too
Thank you - I really appreciate it. The 3 part series on how to make this pond is on the channel, along with about 300 other videos on making vital habitat for wildlife in your own garden/green space. Best wishes, Joel
Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.❤
Can lotus grow in Britain ? I think you should get couple of lotus seeds to grow some pink large lotus flowers in that pond. You are with clay soil so think it would be really pretty.
Fantastic well d9ne
What my garden looks like 💚
I am writing from Denmark, but we have kept some nettles in our garden and the last two years have gotten at least 60 small tortoise shell butterflies nesting and growing on them. I've seen admirals rest on them, but not lay eggs, and have yet to find a peacock or comma... but will keep watching!! I do think it's very important to preserve these lovely pollinators.
The young dragonfly is nearly as big as the newts 🙂
Such kindness I’m sure he really appreciated your help
I do mow my utility grassed area in May then leave it alone. It may be untidy looking, but it becomes meadow-like when it is followed by heartsease & vigorous white clover flower heads, providing a pretty carpet above the grass in mid to late June, & a feast for bees. Not mowing the clover allows it to self-seed for next year, & it does green-up the grass naturally with its nitrogen fixing.. I dig out most of the dandelion plants over the ensuing summer, that's my personal choice.
Just finished my containerpond tonight! Finally!! And I bet I can make others even more hidden, but they will get less light. I almost died because this project and al,ost burned the place down, but we didn’t perish despite 6 hours of dry cooking ehike passed out so it’s all good now. I got my very first pondplants today! Everything is far between and few but I made it! Tiny meadow around with wildflowers, pondplants I got flowering rush, frogbit, marestail and water forgetmenot 🥰
THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS
Thanks Jessie, I really appreciate it. The roses are in full bloom and we're pruning in autumn to ensure even more blooms next year - you can see how they look now in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Ls26ZJz5I1M/v-deo.html Best wishes, Joel

I've done the same thing and am loving it! Many insects enjoy the yard, bringing in birds and mammals. Wildlife pond added this spring is also welcoming wildlife. I put up sign from National Wildlife Federation- habitat sign- so neighbors will know that this is purposeful. No complaints! I feel GOOD about what i'm doing and want to continue to invest in enriching the habitat as these insects and animals need it more than ever now! thank you to all who are following suit!
I have all of these little guys in my pond too, thanks to your advice on how to make the perfect wildlife-encouraging set-up, Joel!! ☺️👍🏻
Fantastic to read this Lou, it really is - these habitats are so very rewarding and I'm so glad your efforts paid off - best wishes, Joel ☺️
Never seen a newt in rl but they are pretty amazing; very prehistoric looking! 🤩🙂
They are! I'm so thrilled about all these ponds being made and homes created for these creatures, they certainly deserve it - did you see the dragonfly nymphs too? ☺️
I absolutely did 🤩👍

Oh I added a pond to my allotment, loads of newts, I did have frogs but haven't seen them since the newts moved in? Loads of dragonflies too
Hey Kitty, it's often the case that a pond will be a "newt pond" OR a "frog pond", they usually avoid each other because each will eat the others' young and newts love frogspawn - but you have a lot of life by the sound of it, and I'm so glad they have a home on your allotment - best wishes, Joel ☺️
Is there a wildlife friendly gardener in Bournemouth/Poole. As a pensioner I may need a bit of help in managing my wildlife garden.
Kindness and respect...pass it on❤ I'm not sure you could imagine what your kind act did for this wonderful elderly man, but to him, you were saving something that he cherished... a beautiful memory of his beloved wife. I can only imagine the flood of loving memories he and his wife had and made with that lovely white rose bush. Thank you for caring!❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nachbarschaftshilfe 😊das ist was feines 👍🏻
Have had frogs taking shelter in the garden for a while now as I live by a beck, but this year I decided to make them a barrel pond not expecting anything to use it for a while. I was shocked to find that within a week it’s teeming with (what seems like) hundreds of tadpoles and spawn. Can’t wait for the anphibian army 👍🏻
It's just so rewarding when you discover them isn't it? You certainly provided a perfect and vital breeding habitat for them, I'm really pleased to read about this - well done! If you see less of them it's because after becoming young frogs they'll be off exploring the undergrowth and hunting, but they'll be back ☺️ Best wishes, Joel

Fab video as always! I'm thinking if ordering some plug plants from your website. Do you think they would still flower this year?
Hi Holly - absolutely they will. Drop us a line at enquiries@wildyourgarden.com and we'll be happy to help if you need any advice or help on species that will do well in the situation you have. Best wishes, Joel
Awwww, that just melted my heart🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎💚 Every time I see a newt, I fall in love all over again. There is a wildlife pond about 3 miles from me in a valley, and I spend hours watching the newts coming up for air. I get so excited, I'm like a kiddy. Tons of wildlife, flowers and trees down there. It's like a slice of heaven🎁
Hey Miche, yes there's something magical about them for sure, so unassuming and so many of them lost over the years, it's quite incredible how they've managed to survive, but hopefully with all these new ponds being built they'll be a common sight again one day. They're pretty mesmerising for sure. Best wishes, Joel ☺️
i drank all the million ponds
Aren't they great little fellas? Just love newts (and all the other pondy chaps, but newts especially). I found a newt in my bathtub one day, shortly after I moved in, and realised that I didn't have anywhere much for these little creatures to go, other than releasing them back in the garden at large. Hence my first mini-pond, just made out of an old plastic can washed up on the beach. After that, I made more and more mini-ponds and marsh-ponds all around the garden. Got around a dozen at present. Yesterday, when walking by the bins behind a shop, I saw another plastic crate, clean, no cracks, no holes, and took it. Turning that into a new mini-pond asap.
Thankyou again Joel for making folk aware how precious all life is❤
Thank you so much, I really appreciate all your support and encouragement, your kind words make a huge difference ☺️ Best wishes, Joel
This is the first time for me to learn about newts😅, thanks Joel😊
The life in the wee pond is remarkable. Makes it all worth while Joel. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for helping this man! G. Bless you!
Thanks Kay, I really appreciate it. The roses are in full bloom and we're pruning in autumn to ensure even more blooms next year - you can see how they look now in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Ls26ZJz5I1M/v-deo.html Best wishes, Joel
