    Thank you Joel, for telling me about this end result video. It is just beautiful! All the roses and other flowers seem to love it as they are thriving so well, and such a remarkable change. It is so nice to see a good video about good deeds and kindness. The world sure could use more like these! Thank you again. May God bless you always❤

      Thank you so much Janice, I'm so glad you got to see them. It feels good to help, but I always remember that the hardest part is asking and the easiest part is offering the help. I hope more people feel able to ask for help after seeing this and more importantly that more people feel in a position to help someone in need. Very best wishes to you and yours - Joel

      Thank you - I am a trained arborist/surgeon and have been for many years but I don't accept as much work because I refuse to fell healthy trees and only concentrate on the surgery part. These trees will be cared for and checked on a daily basis to ensure they absolutely thrive in their new space, such a good feeling watching them "home" again. Best wishes, Joel

      Hi there, all year round is fine, although some of the oxygenating pond plants wouldn't be available over the winter as they go dormant and sink to the bottom of ponds etc, meaning reputable sellers won't have them for sale year round. I hope this helps, best wishes - Joel

    I am writing from Denmark, but we have kept some nettles in our garden and the last two years have gotten at least 60 small tortoise shell butterflies nesting and growing on them. I've seen admirals rest on them, but not lay eggs, and have yet to find a peacock or comma... but will keep watching!! I do think it's very important to preserve these lovely pollinators.

    I do mow my utility grassed area in May then leave it alone. It may be untidy looking, but it becomes meadow-like when it is followed by heartsease & vigorous white clover flower heads, providing a pretty carpet above the grass in mid to late June, & a feast for bees. Not mowing the clover allows it to self-seed for next year, & it does green-up the grass naturally with its nitrogen fixing.. I dig out most of the dandelion plants over the ensuing summer, that's my personal choice.

    Just finished my containerpond tonight! Finally!! And I bet I can make others even more hidden, but they will get less light. I almost died because this project and al,ost burned the place down, but we didn’t perish despite 6 hours of dry cooking ehike passed out so it’s all good now. I got my very first pondplants today! Everything is far between and few but I made it! Tiny meadow around with wildflowers, pondplants I got flowering rush, frogbit, marestail and water forgetmenot 🥰

    I've done the same thing and am loving it! Many insects enjoy the yard, bringing in birds and mammals. Wildlife pond added this spring is also welcoming wildlife. I put up sign from National Wildlife Federation- habitat sign- so neighbors will know that this is purposeful. No complaints! I feel GOOD about what i'm doing and want to continue to invest in enriching the habitat as these insects and animals need it more than ever now! thank you to all who are following suit!

      @WildYourGardenWithJoelAshton День тому

      Hey Kitty, it's often the case that a pond will be a "newt pond" OR a "frog pond", they usually avoid each other because each will eat the others' young and newts love frogspawn - but you have a lot of life by the sound of it, and I'm so glad they have a home on your allotment - best wishes, Joel ☺️

    Have had frogs taking shelter in the garden for a while now as I live by a beck, but this year I decided to make them a barrel pond not expecting anything to use it for a while. I was shocked to find that within a week it’s teeming with (what seems like) hundreds of tadpoles and spawn. Can’t wait for the anphibian army 👍🏻

If you see less of them it's because after becoming young frogs they'll be off exploring the undergrowth and hunting, but they'll be back ☺️ Best wishes, Joel

    Awwww, that just melted my heart🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎💚 Every time I see a newt, I fall in love all over again. There is a wildlife pond about 3 miles from me in a valley, and I spend hours watching the newts coming up for air. I get so excited, I'm like a kiddy. Tons of wildlife, flowers and trees down there. It's like a slice of heaven🎁

      Hey Miche, yes there's something magical about them for sure, so unassuming and so many of them lost over the years, it's quite incredible how they've managed to survive, but hopefully with all these new ponds being built they'll be a common sight again one day. They're pretty mesmerising for sure. Best wishes, Joel ☺️

    Aren't they great little fellas? Just love newts (and all the other pondy chaps, but newts especially). I found a newt in my bathtub one day, shortly after I moved in, and realised that I didn't have anywhere much for these little creatures to go, other than releasing them back in the garden at large. Hence my first mini-pond, just made out of an old plastic can washed up on the beach. After that, I made more and more mini-ponds and marsh-ponds all around the garden. Got around a dozen at present. Yesterday, when walking by the bins behind a shop, I saw another plastic crate, clean, no cracks, no holes, and took it. Turning that into a new mini-pond asap.
